The Quantum Thief (Jean le Flambeur #1) by Hannu Rajaniemi - Review

❋ ❋ ❋

Known conman, thief, and mind-burglar, Jean le Flambeur has just been broken out of the Dilemma Prison by Mieli and her spaceship and is taken to the Oubliette, the Moving City of Mars. They need to find the man he used to be, so he can successfully steal what she needs him to steal. In his last exploit he managed to hide the truth about himself from the hardest person to hide it from: himself. Now he has the chance to regain all of himself in exchange for completing the heist he never finished.

The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi is a unique and creative series opener. He creates fantastic characters and puts them in an impressively imagined world. It's so intriguing watching all of the plot threads come together. It's also remarkably well-paced and it's just the perfect length. My only complaint is trying to figure out the meanings of all of the new words he has created for the story, some of which require a good deal of context and many pages to work out. A must read if you like cyberpunk and space operas!

I read this novel from July 8 - 12, 2015 and my review is also on Goodreads.
